Villa Davoud

The project aimed to design a home for a large Iranian family of 12, addressing their diverse needs for raising and experiencing life with children of different ages. The goal was to create a dynamic environment that not only meets daily living needs but also fosters an experiential and multidimensional lifestyle.
To meet these extensive needs without extensive construction, we drew inspiration from traditional Iranian homes, which typically feature a central courtyard that plays a vital role in connecting various spaces. However, modern living conditions and space constraints led us to adapt this concept. Instead of a traditional central courtyard, we proposed a semi-introverted central greenhouse. This greenhouse, situated amidst the building mass in the cold climate of Taleqan, allows for year-round use and becomes an integral part of the interior space. The arrangement of spaces around this greenhouse is crucial to the design.
The project maintains a hierarchical structure with equivalent access pathways, creating a modern behavior while evoking the essence of traditional homes.
